One of the best ways to relieve stress is to ask for a HUG. When I am very tired after a day’s work I usually ask my husband to hug me many, many times just to relieve the feeling of tiredness. Hugging is a simple activity yet it can make a great impact both mentally and physically in the life of any person. According to medical experts, a hug is a trigger for your body to release stress-relieving chemicals that help you calm down.It is known to reduce heart rates, improve overall moods, lower blood pressure, increase nerve activity, and a host of other beneficial effects. Moreover, it helps you feel more connected to others, more deeply cared for and loved.
Not everyone is “hugger”, or shall I say not everyone is comfortable of giving someone a hug. Especially here in the Philippines, you won’t simply give a hug to someone you are not close with. But being able to give and receive a hug is a skill worth acquiring and a comfort worth savoring.
Feeling too stressed lately? Call your spouse, your children or your parents and tell them… “Hug me please!”
I should have called my hubby and children and told me to hug me during my birthday night.
